The City Bike Is a Great And Free Means of Transport For Summer Outings

The city bikes in Varkaus are intended to be shared by residents and tourists for short journeys within the city. In the summer of 2024, the city bikes will be available free of charge, against to personal identification.

Terms and Conditions For The Use of City Bikes

Bikes are loaned and returned to the loan points according to the opening hours of each location. Hotel Oscar's reception is generally open 24 hours a day, but you should check the opening hours on the rental locations' websites.

To ensure that as many people as possible can enjoy the city bike, the bikes are intended for short-term rental. The longest possible loan period is 24 hours at a time. It is not possible to reserve bikes in advance, but they will be loaned out at the loan points according to current availability.

At the loan point, the borrower must fill in a personal data form and be prepared to present official identification. The borrower's personal data will not be kept after the end of the loan period.

The city bike season ends at the loan points at the end of October, after which the bikes will be collected for winter storage. An exception is the café at the Varkauden vierasvenesatama, where bikes can be borrowed until the end of August.

General Information About City Bikes

  • The bikes are Jopo 24" and have hand brakes (no foot brakes)
  • The bikes have a dynamo bulb, which always lights up when pedalling
  • The rubber on the wheels does not sink, it is sealed
  • The saddle on the wheels can be adjusted with a quick lock
  • The wheels have cable locks that can be closed with a key
